Sony Ericsson Xperia now offers some of the owners the opportunity to update the Xperia X10 Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Sony Ericsson has recently shown the features that will make gingerbread update Xperia X10. The company said the update will be rolled out in August, but now it seems that Sony Ericsson will offer the update ahead of schedule. Sony Ericsson mentioned on its Facebook page, the update can be given before the end of the week.

To update the Xperia X10, which was formerly running Android 2.1 Sony Ericsson, users need to connect the device to their computers and employ the company's PC Companion software.

According to Sony Ericsson, the availability of gingerbread for the user devices "depends on the operator and / or country" and therefore cannot provide a date "exactly when the update will be available to you."

To this update owners receive full integration into the Facebook platform applications, the ability to use the device as Wi-Fi hot spots, and tethering. However, users will also lose some features, such as backup and restore app and Mediascape. Sony Ericsson also said that the contacts and messages are stored in phone memory will be overwritten.
