First Private Operator to Offer 3G Capabilities :RCom

With the launch of its 3G capabilities to public, Reliance Communications has becomes the first private operator to do so.  At the Annual General Meeting of the company held at Birla Matushri Sabhagriha , a private news channel was broadcasted and streamed live on a mobile phone and was shown to the shareholders.

The President of Wireless of RCom, Syed Safawi stated that “We are the first private operator to show our 3G network to the world.” In the auction for the 3G spectrum, the Anil Ambani owned Reliance Communications was successful in getting the winning bid for launching the services of 3G in three of the metros including Mumbai and 10 other cities over the country.


The services of 3G networks have already been rolled by the state owned telecom companies called Bharath Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and MTNL. At the launch of the services at the AGM of Reliance, the chairman Anil Ambani was also present.
