DataWind, the Canadian company that is manufacturing Aakash, has started the online booking and pre booking of the much anticipated low cost Android tablet. Online booking is for students' version of the tablet and pre booking is for UbiSlate 7, the upgraded version of Aakash.

Students' version of Aakash will be available for Rs 2,500 and will be delivered in seven days. The commercial version, UbiSlate 7 is priced at Rs 2,999. The payment mode for both the tablets is cash on delivery.

Acer has announced its Iconia Tab A200. Measuring 260 x 175 x 12.4 mm, Iconia Tab A200 weighs 720 gram. Featuring a 10.1-inch capacitive multitouch display, Iconia Tab A200 comes with a WXGA resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.

Iconia Tab A200 comes with NVIDIA Tegra 2 SoC chipset and a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor running at 1GHz per core along with a ULP GeForce graphics engine that packs 8 cores.

Iconia Tab A200 will come in two versions, 8GB and 16GB, along with a microSD card slot for memory expansion.

MIPS Technology, a China-based CPU company for mobile apps, has announced the availability of the world's first tablet running on the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), Novo 7.

Priced under $100, the tablet is powered by 1GHz single core MIPS-based XBurst CPU with Vivante GC860 GPU core.

Now the tablet is available only in China and online through Ainol Electronics Co Ltd. It will be available in the US and other countries in the coming months.
