Yahoo! India to take internet education program to schools

Yahoo, a leading digital media and search engine company, intends to make its “Learn with Yahoo” program for schools in the near future.

Internet use is growing rapidly in the metropolitan cities in India, so that over 50% of these new customers are Tier-II cities.

The obligation to learn to surf on the Internet is high, so Yahoo has decided to launch its “Learn with Yahoo “program at school in the near future.


Here, the program has been warmly welcomed by people in the first phase. The plan is to add the program when it makes its way into schools. India has more people use the Internet to mobile devices than computers. 3G enabled phones come with a cheap way for them to connect to the Internet.

Yahoo currently stands at 81.7% of the Internet population in India. They are willing to introduce email messages in local languages to be more attractive to users in India.

Senior Director, Yahoo India Nitin Mathur said “The trend in internet usage is changing fast with metros which dominated the scene just a year back giving way to the non metro towns now”." Learn with Yahoo” program to train new users on the various aspects of the Internet. This includes e-mail, search and Internet security and safety.
