Vodafone launches FB phone

Vodafone and Facebook have jointly launched a Smartphone for fans of social networking. The special thing is by default Facebook as default home screen once switched on.

Vodafone Blue, primarily to emerging markets, is priced at Rs 4950 and expects to exploit the youth segment. Facebook will be unlimited access up to one year, when British Telecom giant seeks to shore up its revenue.

The new phone, Vodafone Blue, allows users to share and connect with their friends at any time. The phone is specifically designed to bring “outstanding and affordable integrated mobile Facebook experience to pay as you go”.

The handset which has a designated Facebook button has been manufactured by TCL-Alcatel for Vodafone and was conceptualized a year ago.

"We are looking to capture the replacement market which is huge in India. We have focused on sharp functionality and eliminated the frills in order to make the product affordable. Around 40-50% of the population accessing data on our network is on Facebook so this is a huge potential," said Kumar Ramanathan, CMO, Vodafone Essar.
